Liberia’s “Year of the Diaspora Reunion 2021/2022” is a year-long event in celebration of Liberia’s 200-year anniversary and homecoming of its people. After many years of slowdown, Liberia is finally ready to welcome home her children, their families, and all Africans living in the Diaspora. It is our time to shine, to build back up our country, invest, boost the economy, and welcome tourists from all around the world. Come join us for family, food, and fun.

Just like any other country, Liberia has parts that may be deemed “unsafe.” However, for the most part, Liberia is safe. While in country, it is recommended that you stay with your group during your tour. Do not wander off by yourself at night.

Yes and no! If you are a citizen of one of the ECOWAS countries, you do not need a visa. However, if you are a US citizen. Caribbean, European citizen, etc., you will need to obtain a visa by filling out an application, providing passport sized pictures, yellow book, and paying a fee.

To obtain a visa, please visit one of the Liberian diplomatic missions or consulates in your country. For travelers coming from the United States, our embassy is in Washington, DC. We also have consulates in Atlanta, New York, Massachusetts, and other States. Please contact a consulate near you.

Yes! As with most countries, Liberia does require a Covid test within 72 hours of travel. The test cost $75.00 and must be paid for online after answering a few screening questions. Before traveling out of Liberia, you are also required to take another Covid-19 test. Please check back periodically. This may change by the time we travel.

Yes, but it is tricky. If you need visa upon arrival, please contact us immediately. Visa upon arrival is $50.00 and requires paperwork sent in prior to boarding flight and obtaining a visa letter. It is best to obtain a visa prior to traveling. However, if you are traveling from a country that does not have an embassy or consulate nearby, we will do our best to assist you in getting a visa upon arrival.

Yes, you will be required to take a yellow fever shot. You will need to get this shot and placed in a yellow book prior to applying for your visa. Additionally, it is highly recommended that you purchase and take malaria pills. Once you visit a travel clinic or health center, you will be instructed on how to do so.

The preclude to “Year of the Diaspora Reunion 2021/2022” begins in November of 2021 with the conference of SRDC! The main event/reunion runs from December of 2021 to December of 2022. The opening celebration runs from December 5 , 2021-January 5, 2022, with subsequent events, tours, etc. throughout the course of the year.

Packages vary based on plane tickets only verses all inclusive. Please check with one of the travel agencies on our website. If you book your flight to Liberia for any dates between December 5, 2021, and January 5, 2022, your ticket portion will be reasonably cheaper.

Liberia uses both the United States Dollar and the Liberian Dollar. Most ATM machines will dispense cash in US dollars.

The hotels are located all around Liberia. Majority of our travelers will be staying in Monrovia, the capital city. However, many are staying in Bassa and other parts of the country. It all depends on where you want to stay and what you want to see.

Buses are available to take you to your destinations. Majority of the hotels will have shuttle buses available. However, if you are staying on the outskirts of Monrovia, other arrangements will need to be made with your travel agent.

All tours will be booked online for better and faster service. Click on our “Book a Tour” link and instructions will be given. Depending on the tour you select, you will be rerouted to that tour’s website where you can book and pay for our tour.

Yes, all our tours are guided. However, if you are from Liberia or have been there previously and would like to do a self-guided tour, some venues may allow.

No and yes! You can charter a taxi for fairly decent rate, depending upon where you are traveling to. However, if you want to charter a car service for the day, that can get expensive.

Cash, Visa, and Master Cards are accepted at most venues where we will be staying. However, cash is always best.

Liberia is in West Africa, about 1.5-hour flight from Ghana. It is bordered by Sierra Leone, Guinea, Cote d’Ivoire, and the Atlantic Ocean to the South and West.

English is spoken in Liberia. However, depending upon which area or tribe you are from, a dialect is also spoken.

Liberian food is delicious! While in Liberia, you must try our Jollof Rice! It is amazing! You can enjoy other popular cuisines like plantains/grilled fish, cassava/gravy, fufu/soup, just to name a few.

As when visiting any new country or somewhere you have not been for a long time, it is highly recommended that you do not drink the water directly from the tap. Instead, it is always wise to drink bottled or distilled water.
