Sapo National Park

The largest of all Liberia’s national parks and arguably the most intact forest ecosystem in Liberia, Sapo National Park has the distinction of having one of the highest mammal
biodiversity counts of anywhere in the world.

As the second-largest area of primary tropical rain forest in West Africa, covering over 90% of the park, it’s little wonder that the park supports one of the richest floral diversities in the country, not to mention many endemic species, including the largest pygmy hippopotamus populations in Liberia, and several rare species of bird such as the White-breasted Guineafowl and White-necked Rockfowl.
